About me

I am a fourth year undergraduate student at the University of Florida pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and operations management. Being a first generation Chinese American, there are various aspects that have shaped my global perspective.  I was born in Key West, FL, a small island at the southernmost point of Florida. Coming back to the America from Fuzhou China at the age of 5, I was raised to respect and combine both my cultures for a greater global experience. I have taken my respect for Chinese culture to take the initiatives to learn the language so I can effectively communicate with my family, and hope to spread it to future generations.

On campus, I have worked as an ambassador for the office of Asian Pacific Islander American Affairs under the Multicultural and Diversity Affairs, a language assistant for the English Language Institute, and a study abroad peer adviser for the international Center here at the University of Florida. Each of my roles on campus has provided a different perspective on how to approach on campus and international students on how to specifically cater to each of their personal/professional goals. My involvement in the international community ultimately stemmed from my study abroad experience in the UF in Chengdu program last summer, which wouldn't have been possible without the help of the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship.

Upon graduating in December 2017, my professional and educational objectives include starting a spring 2018 internship and coming back Fall 2018 to earn my Master's degree in Information Systems and Operations Management. Technology excites me the most when it has a positive impact in the communities it comes in contact with – and I am most interested in distributing this technology to emerging markets and developing communities globally.  Furthermore in the future, I hope to combine my professional and international experience in help of promoting, empowering, and advocating an inclusive environment for all identities.
