Campus Engagement

My study abroad experience not only gave me a one in a lifetime experience but also influenced the way I was involved on campus. After coming onto campus, I received opportunities to become a language assistant for the English Language Institute, an ambassador for the Asian Pacific Islander Affairs for MultiCultural Diversity and Affiairs, and a Study Abroad Peer Advisor for UF's international Center. My global experience sparked a passion in me to focus my talents and skills to help other students find the perfect "home away from home" whether that be going to a new country, coming to the U.S. for the first time, or providing a safe-space to discuss different cultural topics.

Events

UF provided opportunities to help students expand global experiences on campus. I had the opportunity to go to multiple events like: Ghanaian Saakumu Dance Troupe Performance, Museum Nights: Algeria to Zimbabwe, Fulbright Pechakucha Presentations, Harn Museum Night: Art without Borders. Each of these events provided me an authentic experience and a way for me connect with other communities. Each community had their unique traditions, culture, values, people, and all in all provided a much richer experience for me while my time on campus.
